Quilombos in Brazil: Our partners at Mídia Étnica Institute have been using Vojo to empower the youth in Brazilian quilombos (villages originally created by escaped slaves) and help them identify and denounce the violence they witness in their communities. Erase the Border: Erase the Border is a web campaign and voice petition platform. It tells the story of the Tohono O'odham people, whose community has been divided along 75 miles of the US-Mexico border by a fence. The border fence divides the community, prevents tribe members from receiving critical health services, and subjects O'odham to racism and discrimination. This platform is a pilot to research the potential of voice and media petitions for civic discourse.













21 Days of Questions, Cambridge Campaign Against Domestic Violence: Engage the Power and the City of Cambridge used a Vojo group to gather questions about domestic violence via voice calls, sms, and in public forums. Ride South LA: Ride South L.A. uses their vojo group to create participatory maps in South Los Angeles, developed and tested in workshops with community organizers, researchers and neighborhood residents. They've made bicycling maps to the Watts Towers as well as a Healthy Food Map for South L.A. Their aim is to build community and advance social justice in South L.A.
